Booked a table which l had to cancel due to illness. I rebooked & had an email confirming the reservation. We arrived & gave our name to a passing waitress who went away. We waited & another waitress came & asked us our name. She went away & came back to verify our name. Then a man arrived & before he had even reached us he was shouting the reservation was cancelled. He said he sent email saying the restaurant was booked. l said l had a confirmation email saying our table was reserved, so had no reason to check the booking again . He told us only he can confirm bookings, so why send a confirmation of reservation before they had checked to ensure they had a table? There was no apology at any time during the conversation. This was our 1st & certainly our last visit to Santa Marina. Luckily we did find an alternative first class restaurant where the service was friendly & welcoming & the food was excellent .
Food was amazing! However... when we walked in it was great service pre food orders... but as soon as our main course plates were taken away we were left sitting. I would have understood if it was busier than when we arrived but it's wasn't... we sat waiting for someone to come to the table for half hour for a desserts menus and to orders more drinks. We decided to leave after this as we felt completely ignored. We are greatly disappointed as our evening had been going so well up until this point. I was more disappointed as this was a birthday night out for my partner and just felt let his night down also.
Lovely restaurant, with great food. Friendly atmosphere, ideal for both quiet meals and large groups alike. Professional and friendly staff. Well recommended.
Excellent service, food is of a high standard, menu is what you'd expect and there are specials. They cook a superb steak. Friendly staff, (an Italian family), nothing thats too much bother, will try their best to accommodate you. Highly recommended!
